🔒 Privacy-First & Offline-First Architecture

At Money Mate, we believe your financial records belong exclusively to you. This Privacy Policy outlines how our application treats your data.

Core Principle: Money Mate is a local-first personal finance application. All financial records, account balances, transactions, and categories are stored directly on your device. We do not operate external financial databases, we do not require account registration, and we do not track or sell your data.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Money Mate does not collect, transmit, or monetize any of the following:

No Personal Identifiers: No mandatory registration, email collection, phone number, or passwords.
No Financial Data Collection: Your transaction amounts, bank names, accounts, notes, and budgets never reach our servers.
No Advertising IDs or Tracking: The app contains zero advertising SDKs, analytics tracking tools, or behavioral cookies.
No AI Model Training: Your financial entries are never processed by external AI models or algorithms.

2. Local On-Device Storage

All application data is stored in a private SQLite database residing in your device's protected internal storage.

Biometric Security & PIN: If you choose to enable App Lock, your PIN is stored strictly on-device as a salted SHA-256 hash. Biometric authentication (Fingerprint, Face ID) uses Android's native BiometricPrompt hardware APIs; biometric information never leaves the hardware security module.
Data Deletion: You can completely and permanently delete all stored data at any time via Settings → Delete All Data.

3. Optional Google Drive Backup & Restore

Money Mate provides an optional cloud backup feature to your personal Google Drive account:

Client-Side Encryption: Backup packages are encrypted on your phone using authenticated AES-256-GCM with keys derived via PBKDF2 (100,000 rounds) before being uploaded.
Dedicated AppData Folder: Backups are saved to your personal Google Drive hidden AppData folder. The developers of Money Mate cannot access, view, or decrypt these files.
Voluntary: Connecting Google Drive is 100% voluntary and can be disconnected at any time.

4. Android Permissions Used

android.permission.INTERNET — Used solely for the user-initiated Google Drive backup and restore operations via secure HTTPS.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Used to send local on-device reminders for recurring bills and budget threshold alerts.
android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC — Used for optional biometric App Lock authentication.
android.permission.VIBRATE — Used for tactile haptic feedback during interactions.

5. Third-Party Services

Money Mate does not integrate third-party analytics, crash reporting services (such as Firebase Crashlytics or Sentry), or advertising networks. The only external API communication occurs when you voluntarily authenticate with Google services for Google Drive backup.

6. Children's Privacy

Money Mate is a general personal finance management tool intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect application updates. Any modifications will be posted to this page with an updated revision date.
